Brenda Thomas, President & Owner |
Brenda gave up her demanding corporate career in marketing in 2010 to reconnect with her family, moving from New Jersey back to the Washington D.C. area where she grew up. However, when it sunk in that her youngest of three sons would be going off to college she decided it was time for her next career move.
Wanting to be more involved in her community and to offer a caring service that could be of benefit to her neighbors, Brenda looked for a business that would give her this opportunity. When she found Caring Transitions she knew it would be perfect. The services offered, the emphasis on compassion and even the name appealed to her. It felt right. With Caring Transitions she is able to combine her professional experience with her passion for family, connecting with you and your family to ease your life transitions.
Brenda's mother, who is almost ninety, has been her biggest advocate and has even been to some of her networking events. Her mother's involvement has given Brenda some real insight into the senior market and helped her to understand the nuances of working in this field. "It's made a big difference for me to have her involved and excited about what we're doing", Brenda says.

Julie Klopp, Vice President & Director of Decluttering and Downsizing |
Julie grew up in Columbia, moving here in 1969. After graduating from the University of Maryland in 1988 she married and she and her husband took off on an extended tour of the western U.S., living in Hawaii, New Mexico, Colorado and Texas. All-in-all they moved twelve times before settling down again in Columbia in 2008. Julie handled the logistics of each move, including all of the packing and unpacking, so she has considerable experience in what it takes to leave a home, including preparing it to show at its best for potential buyers.
While working as a professional organizer in the Columbia area Julie discovered that her favorite part of the job was helping people to declutter and downsize. So even though she has now settled down, she still enjoys helping others through this transition.
Julie is also a certified facilitator of Scott Kiloby's Living Inquiries, a way of exploring and letting go of beliefs that are painful or no longer useful. She likes to think of it as helping people to clear out their mental clutter. She has combined both interests in her book Let Go of Your Stories, Let Go of Your Stuff - Clear Out Your Clutter and Set Yourself Free with Self-Inquiry, which is available on Amazon.
